In addition to the Regimental Museum, Bodmin has a wide range of attractions. You can visit the Courtroom Experience, the Town Museum, Bodmin Jail, and the Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway.

Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway

Just across the road is Bodmin General station, the home base for the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, Cornwall’s only standard gauge steam railway. Take a step back in time for an atmospheric 13 miles round trip through idyllic countryside on some of the steepest gradients in Britain.

Courtroom Experience

An interactive visitor attraction based around the trial of Matthew Weeks who stands accused of the murder of Charlotte Dymond.  You must act as a member of the jury; watch the trial and based on the evidence presented, cast your vote.  Take part in a real slice of Bodmin’s history, all led by knowledgeable and friendly guides.

Bodmin Town Museum

A family-friendly local history museum.  Displays include: World War I, a Victorian kitchen, a blacksmith’s forge, schools from the 19th century, the old Bodmin priory, and much more. Children’s quiz, free entry.

Bodmin Jail

An impressive family visitor attraction.  Originally built for King George III in 1779, the Jail you see today was built by its prisoners.  During the First World War the Jail held state papers and the Doomsday book and the Crown Jewels have also been given safe haven here.
