Things to do in Bodmin

Whether you’re looking for a family day out, a dog friendly attraction, a fun day out with the kids or simply a distraction on a rainy day, we think there’s something for everyone here at Cornwall’s Regimental Museum.

If you haven’t been before, we are probably not what you would expect!

Although the museum is situated in the imposing former barracks to the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, we are actually a relaxed and fun museum.

We often hold events (for more details, click here), as well as activities for children, and throughout the museum there are objects which visitors of all ages can interact with – including the ever popular bugle which can be frequently heard sounding throughout the museum… or not, if you haven’t quite got the knack!

Although our collections do tell the story of the D.C.L.I. regiment, we like to think that everyone, no matter what their interests, will find something to fascinate them here.

As well as the usual weapons, uniforms and medals, we also have many more surprising objects – including a painted egg, a stained glass window, an even a golden goddess!

BODMIN TOWN

We are lucky enough to be situated in the historic market town of Bodmin, where there is plenty to see and do even on a rainy day!

Bodmin is home to many incredible attractions and historic points of interest, including Bodmin Jail, the Camel Trail, the Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway, and many more.

Bodmin is currently undergoing town improvements, which are due to be completed in 2017.  We are excited to see the results, and hope that the great improvements will bring lots of visitors into the town, and through our doors! Until then, we are proud to support and be supported by local people and businesses.
