Join us over the weekend and journey back in time to celebrate our wonderful Victorian heritage!

We’ve teamed up with The Bodmin & Wenford Railway to bring you a wonderful Victorian Weekend of nostalgic family fun! We have a range of themed activities for you to get involved with across both locations, perfect for families & individuals to get hands on with our glorious Victorian history. 

At Bodmin General

Bodmin & Wenford Station will be dressed in all its Victorian glory! It was built during the peak of the Victorian era, and still retains much of its Victorian charm, and you’ll travel in style in The Royal Saloon!

The Royal Saloon – You get a very rare chance to travel on board the railways Royal Saloon; the country’s oldest GWR luxury carriage. Formerly used by Victorian theatre and opera star Adelina Patti.

Traction engine – Come and see the magnificent Burrell General Purpose Engine 3919. 

Look into the trust archive  – At 1pm on both days, we’re pleased to welcome the Bodmin & Wenford Railway Trust to this event. They’ll be bringing a selection of documents and items from their archive to give visitors a very rare chance to see some of the collection up close. They will also be on hand to answer any questions about their archive and the work they do to preserve and restore the railways locomotives.

Activities at Cornwall’s Regimental Museum

We have some special Victorian activities planned over the weekend, in the perfect setting of the Victorian Barracks of Bodmin Keep.

Victorian Object Handling – You will have the rare opportunity to get up close and handle some amazing Victorian objects.

Join in our fun activity trail around the museum, follow the clues and find the answers to some fascinating questions in the Victorian galleries within the museum, there’s prizes to be won!

Get creative in our craft room and make a mosaic inspired by the Lucknow Quilt in our collection or create a replica Victoria Cross medal out of clay – All materials included and your completed projects to take home and enjoy!

Pop Up Traditional Sweet Shop – Round off your day with a cup of tea and slice of cake in our pop up tea room or bag a quarter of old fashioned sweets in our traditional sweet shop! 


Please purchase tickets on the day at the booking office at Bodmin General, or with cash from the ticket inspector

on the train.  

Explore 6 1/2 miles of track and make the most of all the additional activities.

Pay once; ticket valid for both venues and travel all day on the train!
